Rugs have been woven by hand in Morocco since Paleolithic times so, uh, there's a lot of history to the Moroccan rug. That they feel so modern might be attributable to the abstract shapes and gestural lines woven into their designs. Or maybe it's that they don't feel modern in and of themselves but are the perfect counterpoint to the sometimes shiny, sleek, minimalist things that can go into assembling our favorite sort of room. Because everybody knows that the best rooms take years to develop, and that everything was modern at the time of its making. Right—?
On offer now: a vintage Berber rug from Morocco, in a red so red it can't be redder.
